ReTHUS (Registro Único Nacional del Talento Humano en Salud) is Colombia's national registry for health professionals. Every licensed dentist in Colombia must be registered. You can verify a dentist's registration status online through the Colombian Ministry of Health's website. The registry confirms the dentist's identity, university of graduation, degree type, registration number, and current status.
Step 2: University Training
Colombian dental education requires 5 years of university-level study for the general dentistry degree (Odontólogo). Top programs include Universidad CES (Medellín), Universidad de Antioquia (Medellín), Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogotá), Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Bogotá), and Universidad del Valle (Cali). For specialists (prosthodontists, periodontists, oral surgeons, orthodontists), an additional 2–4 years of postgraduate training is required.
Step 3: Specialty Certification
